Newcastle Disease Vaccine Market is Set to Attain Revenue of US$ 441.29 Million by 2031 | Astute Analytica

October 25th, 2023 Astute Analytica Releases

Global Newcastle Disease Vaccine Market revenue was US$ 300.97 million in 2022 and is projected to surpass a valuation of US$ 441.29 million by 2031, growing at a CAGR of 3.9% during the forecast period from 2023 to 2031.

Newcastle disease vaccines market is estimated to generate significant sales during the forecast period. This trend is due to the rising need for efficient disease control and the expanding poultry production. Newcastle disease (ND) is a highly contagious viral infection that affects poultry populations worldwide. It poses a significant threat to the poultry industry due to its high prevalence, mortality rate, and economic impact.

Soaring Demand for Newcastle Disease Vaccine Amidst Poultry Production Boom

According to our recent study, there has been a noticeable rise in poultry consumption, reflecting the current trends in food consumption. This increase in demand for poultry is due to the advancements in technology, the introduction of new processes, and a significant global expansion of poultry and meat suppliers.

The increased production of poultry can be attributed, in part, to the lower production costs and the improved efficiency of equipment. In the leading poultry-producing countries such as the USA, China, Russia, India, and Brazil, the speed limits for production lines are either unrestricted or set at 175 birds per minute. This high-speed production allows for lower costs, higher output, and a rapid increase in demand for new birds. Our survey reveals that poultry production in Southeast Asia has expanded by 56% over the past decade, growing from 5.9 million metric tons (mmt) to 9.2 mmt in 2018, and is projected to reach 12.3 mmt by 2028. This significant rise in production also raises the risk of Newcastle disease, thereby increasing the demand for vaccines and further stimulating market growth.

In alignment with this trend, various regions are bolstering their production capabilities to meet the growing demand, thus propelling market expansion. As an example, in November 2022, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that the Biden-Harris Administration is allocating a substantial investment of US$ 73 million towards 21 grant projects as part of the initial phase of the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program (MPPEP).

This initiative aims to expand the capacity for processing meat and poultry, leading to increased competition, enhanced income for producers, and a fortified food supply chain. Consequently, this endeavor aims to reduce costs for working families, generate employment opportunities, and foster economic growth in rural areas. Additionally, this development is likely to fuel consumption. Consequently, this raises awareness about Newcastle disease and further amplifies market growth.

From Shortage to Surplus: Government Initiatives Pave the Way for Ample Vaccine Availability

The surging global consumption of poultry products is generating a heightened need for disease prevention and control measures within the poultry industry. Governments are contributing to this effort by enforcing stringent regulations and guidelines that mandate vaccination programs and biosecurity measures. These initiatives aim to effectively curb the spread of Newcastle Disease (ND) and ensure the overall health and safety of poultry populations.

Governments in several regions implemented variations and interventions in disease prevalence, which are key factors that influence market dynamics. These regional disparities create a competitive environment where market players actively engage in research and development endeavors, strategic partnerships, as well as mergers and acquisitions. These initiatives are undertaken to gain a competitive advantage and establish a strong foothold in the market.

In line with this, various organizations and companies are launching new vaccine initiatives to address the shortage. For example, Zimbabwe is currently in the process of manufacturing 15 million doses of Newcastle vaccine to safeguard poultry. The Department of Veterinary Services is spearheading vaccine production, to protect poultry in communal areas. Recently, the Presidential Rural Poultry Scheme was introduced in Masvingo, where approximately 3 million rural households will receive 10 chicks each over the next two to three years. These efforts are aimed at bolstering poultry health and mitigating the shortage of vaccines in the region.

Apart from this, in October 2023, the vaccine for the Ranikhet (Newcastle) virus, developed by Biovac Nepal, a private Nepali company, received approval from the Department of Drug Administration. The manufacturer has stated that they will produce an adequate number of doses to meet the domestic demand and also for export purposes. Consequently, the introduction of these new vaccines will alleviate the shortage, thereby stimulating market growth.

This development aligns with the efforts of the Nepali government and private sectors to combat poultry diseases through preventive measures such as vaccinations

Chicken: The Primary Beneficiary of Newcastle Disease Vaccine

The poultry industry greatly benefits from the vaccination against Newcastle disease, as chickens are the main recipients of this preventive measure. In 2022, the chicken segment generated a significant revenue of US$ 256.22 million. Moreover, the chicken segment will continue to dominate the market and experience a growth rate of 4.4% annually during the projected period.

The growth of the chicken segment is growing due to the increasing demand for chicken meat and eggs, which is primarily driven by factors, such as population growth, evolving dietary preferences, and urbanization. An example of this trend can be seen in the United States, where the poultry industry holds the position of the world’s largest producer and second-largest exporter of poultry meat. In addition, the country is a significant producer of eggs. Although the consumption of poultry meat in the U.S. surpasses that of beef or pork, it is still lower than the overall consumption of red meat. In 2022, the U.S. exported about 15 percent of the poultry meat produced.

Poultry producers are giving high priority to disease prevention and implementing vaccination programs to protect their chicken flocks from outbreaks of Newcastle disease. Furthermore, supportive government initiatives that promote poultry health, encourage biosecurity measures and specifically target vaccination campaigns for chickens are contributing to the growth of this segment.

North America Accounted for About US$ 113.66 Million Revenue

North America held a significant share in the global Newcastle disease vaccines market, contributing approximately US$ 113.66 million in revenue in 2022. The region is expected to experience consistent growth, with a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.3%. Factors such as increasing consumer demand for chicken products, advancements in vaccine technology, and the widespread adoption of comprehensive vaccination programs by poultry producers are driving the growth of the market in North America.

The United States holds prominent positions in both the global and domestic meat commodity markets for poultry products. This is due to competitive production structures, advanced poultry genetics, abundant domestic feed resources, and strong consumer appeal. From 2013 to 2022, broiler chickens, which account for nearly all chicken meat production in the U.S., constituted an average of 67 percent of total poultry sector sales. Chicken eggs, primarily consumed by humans, made up an average of 22 percent, while turkeys accounted for 11 percent of poultry sales. The increasing consumption of poultry products drives the demand for vaccines, which in turn contributes to the growth of the market.

Between 2018 and 2019, there were several outbreaks of Newcastle disease in commercial poultry farms in the United States, primarily concentrated in California. These outbreaks had significant consequences for the local Newcastle disease vaccination market, leading to trade restrictions in affected regions and high mortality rates among infected poultry. In order to contain and prevent further spread of the virus, there was a surge in demand for Newcastle disease vaccines. According to our investigation, there was a 30% increase in demand for this vaccination following the outbreak.
