Hyperpigmentation Treatment Devices Market to Eyewitness Massive Growth, Latest Advancement and Detail Analysis 2023-2030 | Cutera Inc., Hologic, Inc., Lutronic Corporation, Syneron Medical Ltd

July 4th, 2023 Coherent Market Insights Releases

Skin that darkens in spots more than the surrounding skin is said to have hyperpigmentation. Age spots, brown spots, and freckles are all signs of hyperpigmentation. Darkening of the skin is caused by an increase in melanin production just below the epidermis. A few of the most common reasons for hyperpigmentation are:

Hyperpigmentation can be caused by two types of sun damage:

1) lentigines, which are small dark spots on the skin caused by overexposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays; and

2) melasma, which is hyperpigmentation caused by hormonal changes like pregnancy, the use of the birth control pill, and excessive oestrogen production.

Also acne, wounds, trauma, burns, and surgical scars can all cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation of the skin.

Lasers, strong pulsed light photo rejuvenation, sub surfacing non-ablative lasers, microdermabrasio, and radiofrequency devices are just a few of the many devices available for treating hyperpigmentation. These tools provide a non-invasive means of treating hyperpigmentation and its related conditions including sun spots, scars, etc. In cases where topical or pharmacological medicines have failed to effectively treat a patient’s skin condition — such as severe hyperpigmentation — these devices may be employed. Several devices address hyperpigmentation in different ways. As a result of its efficacy and relative lack of side effects, laser technologies have largely displaced their predecessors in recent years.

In 2017, the worldwide market for hyperpigmentation treatment devices was worth US$ 1,150 Mn. This figure is anticipated to increase at a CAGR of 7.2% over the forecast period, 2018–2023. (2018 – 2026).

The market for hyperpigmentation treatment devices is projected to expand as more and more people choose for non-surgical, device-based therapies to treat hyperpigmentation.

Market expansion for hyperpigmentation treatment devices will be spurred by the rising demand for non-invasive, minimally invasive skin resurfacing technologies to treat common skin issues like hyperpigmentation, acne scars, sun damage, and stretch marks. Photo rejuvenation, also known as ‘intense pulse light’ (IPL) therapy, was the fourth most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure for skin resurfacing (including hyperpigmentation) in the United States in 2017, per the Plastic Surgery Statistics Report published annually by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Both ablative and non-ablative laser skin resurfacing amounted to roughly 587,903 and 586,662 operations in 2017 and 2016, respectively, according to the same source. The rising popularity of skin resurfacing operations is anticipated to fuel demand for hyperpigmentation treatment devices.

A total of 2,545,922 skin rejuvenation treatments were performed in 2016 across the globe, according to the 2017 study titled “World Aesthetic Survey Findings” issued by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

However, the potential for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after treatment with lasers and other light-based devices, as well as the fact that most insurance providers won’t cover the cost of skin resurfacing, are likely to limit the market’s expansion. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reports that ablative procedures cost roughly US$ 2,330 per session whereas non-ablative ones cost around US$ 1,031.

Over the forecast period, the market for hyperpigmentation treatment devices is expected to expand due to factors such as the rising global elderly population and the introduction of novel laser-based devices.

Coherent Market Insights predicts that the ageing population will fuel market expansion over the next few years as more people seek treatments for skin resurfacing and hyperpigmentation. The assessment on the future of the world’s population was released in 2017, and it found that the average age of the population was rising. There were an estimated 962 million persons aged 60 or over in the world in 2017, making up roughly 13% of the global population; this number is expected to rise to 1.3 billion by 2025, an annual growth rate of about 3%.

As a result of age-related skin issues such post-menopausal pigmentation, there is a growing desire for non-invasive cosmetic operations among the elderly. Skin-related cosmetic treatments have increased by over 1,263% among patients aged 65 and more during the past 20 years (1996-2016), per statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery’s national data bank, published in 2016. The market for hyperpigmentation treatment devices should benefit from this trend.

The launch of new devices and the promotion of the use of laser-based and light-based devices by a number of manufacturers are factors that are predicted to drive growth in the hyperpigmentation treatment devices market. By way of illustration, in January of 2018, Lutronic, a company based in Korea, released a new laser device called Lase MD for skin rejuvenation. It’s a fractional 1,927 nm Thulium laser that may be used on patients of any age or skin type to achieve optimal results from skin resurfacing with minimal discomfort and recovery time.

The laser-based device generates micro-channels in the skin’s stratum corneum while leaving the underlying tissues unharmed, allowing for increased tissue permeability and rapid wound closure. In April of 2017, BISON MEDICAL received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its CYMA clinic CO2 laser system (FDA). The United States is now a viable market for this laser technology after previously being the country with the biggest annual volume of skin cosmetic operations.

The main companies participating in the market for hyperpigmentation treatment devices worldwide are Cutera Inc., Hologic, Inc., Lutronic Corporation, Syneron Medical Ltd., Lumenis Ltd., Alma Lasers, Ltd., AMI, Strata Skin Sciences, Inc., BISON MEDICAL, Solta Medical Inc., Lynton Lasers Ltd., EL.En. S.p.A., Sciton, Inc., Fotona D.O.O., and Alma Lasers, Ltd.
