Hypercholesterolemia Market Expanding at a CAGR 15.7% For The Forecast Period From 2022 To 2030

January 3rd, 2023 emergen research Releases

According to the most recent analysis by Emergen Research, the worldwide hypercholesterolemia market had a value of USD 12.95 billion in 2021 and is predicted to grow at a rate of 15.7% over the projected period. Growing numbers of clinical trials and research for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, as well as the incidence of chronic diseases and cardiovascular diseases, are key factors propelling market revenue growth. Another element that is anticipated to propel market revenue growth is the recent rapid acceleration of clinical drug development for hypercholesterolemia.

Hypercholesterolemia is caused by elevated levels of LDL (bad) and total cholesterol in the blood. Total blood cholesterol should be within the normal biological range of 140–200 mg/dL. Atherosclerosis, stroke, and other cardiovascular disorders are caused by hypercholesterolemia. High-density lipoprotein (HDL), Low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and Very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol make up the majority of the cholesterol in human blood. The term “good cholesterol” for the body refers to HDL cholesterol. A high HDL cholesterol level lowers the chance of developing heart disease, and HDL naturally eliminates cholesterol from cells by transporting it back to the liver. However, LDL contributes to plaque, a hard, dense deposit that narrows arteries and renders them flexible.

Usually, a combination of hereditary and environmental risk factors leads to hypercholesterolemia. Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia is caused by a genetic disease. It occurs because there is a mutant copy of the LDLR gene (LDL receptor gene). People with the homozygous gene, which has two copies of the gene, typically have serious cardiovascular disorders in their infancy, but those with the heterozygous gene, which has one copy of the gene, typically develop cardiac problems in their 30s or 40s.
