Automatic Cell Imaging System Market Future Business Opportunities 2021-2028 | GE Healthcare Life Sciences, West Medica, Norma Diagnostika GmbH, Bioview

December 21st, 2021 Coherent Market Insights Releases

Global Automatic Cell Imaging System Market

Overview:

Cell imaging, or live cell imaging, is the study of living cells using time-lapse microscopy. It is used by scientists to obtain a better understanding of biological function through the study of cellular dynamics. The process was established in the first half of the 20th century. Various methods of microscopy have been developed since then, allowing scientists or researchers to conduct experiments on living cells with less effort and in greater detail. Today, cell imaging has become an important tool in medical research. Automatic cell imaging systems are used to study a variety of things, such as the effects of chemical compounds on cell growth.

Researchers in this field want to see which compounds occupy the cell cycle or how long they take to incubate and at what concentration. A cell cycle is a series of events that takes place in a cell as it grows and divides. If anything goes wrong during the transition (at some stage) from one stage to another, the cell usually enters into a programmed cell death. Thus, studying these processes requires complex image analysis workflows that can be difficult to detect. A process is accelerated by the use of modular software. Automatic cell imaging system can also be used in the drug discovery for various diseases, for example, cancer drugs.

Drivers:

Increasing prevalence of cancer around the world is expected to propel growth of the global automatic cell imaging system market over the forecast period. For instance, as reported by the World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRFI), more than 14.1 million new cancer cases (including 6.6 million female and 7.4 men) were expected to be diagnosed worldwide in 2012. Moreover, according to the same source, this number is expected to reach around 24 million by 2035. The prevalence of cancer across the globe is increasing at an alarming rate, and thus, there is an increasing demand for automatic cell imaging system. The system offers a grassroots analysis of the division of cancer cells, and so researchers are using this technology to find a cure for the deadly disease. This in turn is expected to boost the growth of the market.

The most common cancer are prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung and bronchus cancer, kidney and renal pelvis cancer, colon and rectum cancer, leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, thyroid cancer, bladder cancer, melanoma of the skin, endometrial cancer, and pancreatic cancer. The number of new cancer cases per 100,000 women and men per year was 454.8, while the number of cancer deaths was 171.2 per 100,000 women and men per year, between 2008 and 2012.

Moreover, rise in product launch and product approvals is expected to augment growth of the global automatic cell imaging system market over the forecast period. For instance, in February 2018, Molecular Devices announced the launch of an automated cell imaging system, named ImageXpress Pico, which brings the power of imaging and analysis to the individual lab bench.
