Nerve Biologic Products Market Trends 2021 : Latest Devices, Key Players Statistics Data, Regional Business Outlook 2026

July 22nd, 2021 Coherent Market Insights Releases

SEATTLE, July 22, 2021, (MEDGADGET) — Global Nerve Biologic Products Market Analysis

Overview

Artificial neural conduits, nerve grafts, nerve wraps, and nerve capping devices are examples of neural biologic products used to guide axonal outgrowth and aid nerve regeneration. These devices are primarily utilized in the treatment of nerve damage in clinical settings. Complex suturing, such as suturing two ends of a split nerve that requires a stiff procedure, is typically done with nerve biologic products. The scaffold material employed in the production of nerve biologic products is either synthetic or biological. Alginate, spider silk fiber, aragonite, chitosan, silkworm silk fibroin, collagen type I/III, and PSA (Polysialic acid) are among the biocompatible materials used to make nerve biologic products.

Drivers

The global nerve biologic products market is forecast to grow due to advancements in research and development for creating revolutionary technologies for nerve biologic products. In February 2015, University of Sheffield engineers invented a device called 3D-printed NGC (nerve guiding conduit). The NGC (Nerve Growth Complex) is a network of tiny tubes that move wounded nerve endings towards each other, allowing them to heal spontaneously. The gadget is designed using CAD (computer-aided design), and it may be customized to fit any sort of nerve injury or even patient-specific nerves.

In addition, Polyganics, a medical device manufacturer, got the CE mark for Neurocap, a nerve capping device, in June 2016. Neurocap is an absorbable device that is used to treat and reduce symptomatic neuromas in the peripheral nerves. In January 2016, the gadget was approved for sale in the U.S.

Furthermore, certifications for nerve biologic products by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) are expected to boost growth of the global nerve biologic products market. Collagen Matrix Inc. got USFDA approval for their Flexible Collagen Nerve Conduit in June 2014. Flexible Collagen Nerve Conduit is a type I collagen tubular matrix that is restorable and flexible and provides encasement for peripheral nerve damage as well as shiatsu.

AxoGen, Inc. also gained USFDA approval to continue with an IND (Investigational New Drug) application for Avance Nerve Graft in May 2015. Due to the USFDA’s enforcement discretion award, the medicine is commercially available while it is being transformed to a biologic product. It contains porcine submucosa extracellular matrix, which is utilized to cover and preserve damaged peripheral nerves, improve nerve restoration, and avoid soft tissue adhesion.

Restraints

The nerve biologic products market is estimated to be restrained by the USFDA’s product recalls owing to contamination and sterility difficulties. The USFDA recalled Integra LifeSciences’ NeuraWrap Nerve Protector and Dural Graft Matrix in June 2015 owing to a manufacturing process variation and greater quantities of pyrogens than allowed by the product’s criteria. Dural Graft Matrix was a soluble implant for the healing of dural defects, whereas NeuraWrap Nerve Protector was designed for the management of peripheral nerve damage.

Regional Insights

North America is projected to dominate the global nerve biologic products market over the forecast period, owing to an increase in the number of peripheral nerve injuries in the U.S. As per a study published in June 2017 by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the U.S., over 250,000 people in the U.S. suffer from peripheral nerve injury each year.

The global nerve biologic products market is also projected to increase significantly in the Asia Pacific and Europe regions. This is due to an increase in public knowledge of central nervous system illnesses and therapeutic treatments as a result of planned conferences. The seventh International Conference on CNS (Central Nervous System) Disorder and Treatments will be conducted in Japan in June 2019, after the sixth International Conference on CNS Disorder and Therapeutics, which will be hosted in Paris in November 2018. The major themes discussed at these events include CNS illnesses and disorders, neuroimmunological disorders, neurometabolic disorders, brain tumors, and neurosurgery.
