Telehealth is a great tool for healthcare professionals in remote locations too. They can now refer to their expert colleagues to consult on severe medical cases before flying out to a different country. This reduces visitation of ailing patients and their relatives to already crowded medical facilities in remote areas. Since consultation is received at home, vehicular emissions from transportation are reduced thus lowering environmental impact.

Telehealth mobile apps allow patients to track their daily symptoms easily on their mobile phones. They can also set reminders to take their medicine. Users can also access a wide database of resources allowing them to learn about issues like weight management, anxiety, depression, asthma, and more. Video conferencing is a useful tool to provide diagnosis and consultation to inmates in a jail or military personnel in war-torn areas. Another segment of telehealth is remote patient monitoring or RPM. These mobile apps or wearable devices track symptoms and collect a patient’s vitals. They are useful in tracking heart rate, blood glucose level, blood pressure, oxygen levels, respiratory levels, and more.

Market Segmentation
By services, the report categorizes telehealth market into two parts – remote monitoring and real-time interactions. Remote monitoring refers to mobile apps and wearable devices that collect a patient’s health data and track symptoms. Real-time interactions refer to video conferencing for consultations with healthcare providers in a different geographical area. The second segment of this report is by hardware where it expands on wearable devices like blood glucose monitors. The last segment is by software – integrated and standalone.

Regional Analysis
North America has the largest contribution to telehealth globally. In the US, the telehealth market is expected to grow to $35 billion dollars by 2025. Globally, the telehealth market is expected to project a CAGR of 23.4% between 2018-2026. This would bring the valuation of the global telehealth market to $266.8 billion. Europe has seen a significant growth in the telehealth industry owing to the rapid adoption of remote patient monitoring techniques in the form of wearable devices. Latin America, Middle East, and Africa continuously witness a high unmet patient population. The technological advancements and improved access of healthcare in other rural areas of the world will bring significant improvements in these areas too.

Industry News:
A fine instance of telehealth market influnce :Wyoming Medicaid monitored pregnant women over the course of their gestation period who used a mobile health app called, Due Date Plus. This app allows women to record pregnancy milestones, access medical services, and find symptom-related information. These women were found to comply better with prenatal care instructions and the occurrence of low birth weight born babies was less.
