On 30th March 2017, Nestlé Health Science and the Chinese Stroke Association collaborated to improve the management, diagnosis, and screening of dysphagia amongst stroke patients. Stroke is considered to be one of the most common causes of dysphagia. As part of the agreement, Nestlé Health Science has launch Thicken Up, which is a thickening agent that has helped patients overcome dysphagia, a swallowing difficulty. The product has launched in the leading 25 hospitals in leading municipalities and provinces in China. The National Health Society also collaborated and has shared the resources with the Chinese Stroke Association to introduce the best practice standards and clinical innovation in China’s leading stroke centers. The National Health Society has also introduced an ‘Easy Eating’ hotline for non-hospitalized patients.
