July 15th, 2019 Market Research Future Releases

Global Bioinformatics Market – Overview

The Global Bioinformatics Market has been consistently demonstrating steady growth. Market Research Future, a firm which specializes in market reports related to the healthcare sector among others, published in its recent report on Global Bioinformatics Market Research Report- Forecast to 2022 that the market is expected to grow at a rate of 19.8% till 2022.

Bioinformatics have developed significantly since the advent of related advances in the technology sector. Since Bioinformatics is extremely essential to the growth of the biotech sector there is a huge increase in the level of demand for this market. The demand for Bioinformatics is majorly derived from independent biologists and laboratories that deal with gene expression, DNA sequencing etc. Increasing need for Bioinformatics is driving the demand for the sector. Increased demand for integrated Bioinformatics systems and genomics are responsible for driving the growth trend of the sector. Its applications in the fields of medicine and biology including gene therapy, molecular medicines, drug developments preventive medicines, biotechnology along with forensic analysis of microbes has further promoted demand for the sector.

The market can find its growth rate hampered by lack of availability of skilled professionals and high costs associated with this sector. Lack of system exchange and data formats use is also slowing down the pace of development of the market.

Latest Industry Updates:

Nov 2017 Biomillenia, the developer of Smart Microbes, announced a collaboration with QIAGEN for use of QIAGEN’s Microbial Genomics Pro Suite to generate next generation sequence data on microbes identified using Biomillenia’s proprietary microbiome-on-a-chip technology. Biomillenia’s approach is able to identify strains of microbes previously deemed unculturable, and at unprecedented speeds. QIAGEN’s bioinformatics platform provides an easy-to-run infrastructure for analysing microbial genomes, from sequence assembly to microbe identification.

Dec 2017 Science Exchange, the world’s leading and most secure enterprise platform for outsourced research and development (R&D) services, announced the partnership with Bioinformatics Solutions, Inc. to offer online access to its protein de novo sequencing services to scientists around the globe. As the creators of the well-known, highly established PEAKS Software, the golden standard of de novo sequencing, Bioinformatics Solutions, Inc., offers their de novo sequencing expertise to scientists at a new level by sequencing the samples themselves.

Dec 2017 DNAnexus is making the Google-developed DeepVariant bioinformatics tool available on its cloud-based DNAnexus Platform through a pilot program. DeepVariant is a deep-learning technology designed to call genetic variants from next-generation sequencing data using deep neural networks. DeepVariant applies the inception TensorFlow framework, originally developed to perform image classification. The framework represents information as images similar to what a clinician would look at from a genome browser, then classifies the positions as variant or nonvariant. By cross-applying the technology using a short development time, DNAnexus reasons, DeepVariant can outperform methods that developers have been working on for a decade.

Dec 2017 GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) recently applauded the UK government’s announcement of the Life Sciences Sector Deal, by announcing £40 million investment in genomic research. This new investment by GSK, along with money from other public and private organizations, is building on the UK’s already world-leading status in the field of genomics and Bioinformatics. Moreover, this money will be used to strengthen the company’s ‘Open Targets’ collaboration with the European Bioinformatics Institute, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Biogen and Takeda — established in 2014 in Cambridge — which makes genetic and biological data openly available to help researchers identify and prioritise new targets for developing future medicines.
