Zipline, a drone company based in Half Moon Bay, California, is unveiling its fastest, longest range, and easiest to setup drone for medical deliveries. The company’s drones are already serving as couriers in Rwanda, delivering blood samples and blood units to and from 21 hospitals in the western part of the country. The new autonomous drones, which only take about a minute to program and launch, travel up to 80 miles per hour (128 Kph) and feature a roundtrip range of 100 miles (160 Km).
Currently, the company is working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as part of the agency’s UAS Integration Pilot Program, to help introduce the firm’s drones into rural areas of the United States.
