The da Vinci surgical robotic systems from Intuitive Surgical have become extremely popular among physicians and patients, though there are some controversies surrounding costs of procedures and complications. The system is so inspiring that Amin Akhshi, an industrial product designer, has imagined a future da Vinci system.
Akhshi’s design provides easy access to the patient thanks to a single pole that holds the instruments in suspension. The instruments move in and out of the patient in a new way and there are a bunch of other changes and design ideas that we don’t quite understand.
There’s not much explanation for the various design decisions except the following statement from Akhshi:
The Xi was the fourth generation of the da Vinci system And some features included, Smaller incisions associated with minimal scarring, Less need for narcotic pain medicine and Faster recovery plus many great other things. I have to mention that which I had planned to design a different kind of endoscope part for this concept but unfortunately, I didn’t find enough time for that, this personal project took me a lot of time than I expected so I took the renders without the endoscope.
Like always I got inspired by Vitaly Bulgarov and Fausto De Martini’s works to develop the design to something more futuristic
