Cynosure, now a part of Hologic, is releasing a radiofrequency system for performing aesthetic procedure on the skin, including for reduction of wrinkles and other facial lines, tightening of skin by coagulating soft tissue, and making cellulite look more attractive than its natural self. The system is already FDA cleared.
The TempSure Envi device generates heat in the deeper layers of the skin while simultaneously monitoring the temperature of the affected area. It features so-called Therapeutic Logic Control, a technology that correlates the temperature of the therapy to how much time it is delivered to achieve optimal results without leading to discomfort. For example, it only starts the timer once the skin achieves a targeted therapy. The company touts that in its in-house study of Therapeutic Logic Control, 99% of patients treated reported no pain at all.
Procedures take between a half hour and an hour, depending on what is being treated, and are performed in continuous sessions requiring no downtime.
Heating the lower layers of the skin leads to collagen production, makes cellulite look better, and smoothes out wrinkles, frown lines, crow’s feet, and the like.
