Revolutionary Documentary on the Future of Medicine Features Medical Device for Pain, Anxiety, Insomnia & Depression

September 26th, 2017 Electromedical Products International, Inc. Releases, Releases - Featured

A medical device that is FDA cleared to treat pain, anxiety, insomnia and depression, was recently featured in Body Electric: Electroceuticals and the Future of Medicine, a documentary that seeks to revolutionize the way we think about health and the human body.

Alpha-Stim, a handheld, prescription device manufactured by Electromedical Products International, Inc., is clinically proven to provide fast, safe and effective treatment with no serious adverse effects and no risk of addiction.

The film was produced, directed and written by British filmmaker Justin Smith, whose previous works include Statin Nation: The Great Cholesterol Cover-Up, and Statin Nation II: What Really Causes Heart Disease.

“In the future, medical treatments will be based on electroceuticals rather than pharmaceuticals,” Smith said. “Instead of prescriptions for chemical molecules doctors will prescribe specific frequencies. This is not science fiction—it’s happening right now. Although it is not widely known about because of the near monopoly the pharmaceutical industry has on medicine.”

The film highlights how the technology behind the Alpha-Stim provides a superior alternative to current pharmaceutical medications, in that it provides treatment from pain, anxiety, insomnia and depression without a host of negative side effects.

Dr. Jeff Marksberry, Vice President for Science and Education at EPI, said that in addition to acting as a non-drug, non-invasive option, Alpha-Stim stands out because after over 100 studies in 35 years, the reported side effects have all been minor and self-limiting.

“What we see in our safety profile is that there is a less than 1 percent chance of a side effect,” Marksberry said. “The most common side effect is that you get a headache. And that’s about 1 in 1,000 patients who are reporting a headache.”

Not only does Alpha-Stim provide treatment without the side effects that come with most prescription medications—it actually works! Dr. Daniel Kirsch, Chairman of EPI, noted that Alpha-Stim has a history of providing fast, safe and effective relief.

“We put a pretty high bar there—we said 50 percent,” Kirsch said, recalling the expectations that were put in place for a 2014 study in which at least 83 percent of the patients saw a 50 percent improvement in anxiety or depression. “Saying 50 percent is quite ambitious, and yet we achieved it. There’s no drug study in anxiety that even comes close to that.”

Tracey Kirsch, President of EPI, noted that one of the most powerful facts about Alpha-Stim is that while the body of the device has changed over the years, its technology has remained the same.

“The interesting thing about Alpha-Stim is that the waveform, the mechanism of action if you will, that makes the device work hasn’t changed in 35 years. We’ve changed the buzzers, we’ve changed the whistles, we’ve gotten better at applying it in the protocols.”

Despite a wealth of clinical studies that support the power of Alpha-Stim to treat pain, anxiety, insomnia and depression, EPI has spent years trying to work with the Food & Drug Administration, in order to obtain an accurate classification. The documentary gives an in-depth look at Alpha-Stim’s journey over the years, as well as what lies ahead for the future of electromedicine.

The film is available through The American Institute of Stress. Purchase the DVD or view the documentary online at www.stress.org/bodyelectric.

About Alpha-Stim®

Alpha-Stim® is a non-invasive medical device that is FDA cleared to provide fast, safe and effective treatment of anxiety, insomnia, depression, and pain. The brain functions electrochemically and can be readily modified by electrical intervention. The Alpha-Stim AID utilizes cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES) to deliver the only patented waveform which is clinically proven to significantly decrease anxiety and comorbid depression. The Alpha-Stim M uses CES to treat mood and sleep, plus microcurrent electrical therapy (MET) to also treat pain. Alpha-Stim can be used alone, along with other therapies, or as an adjunct to medication (without the risk of drug interactions). There are no serious adverse effects, no risk of addiction, and more than 100 research studies over 35 years that prove the effectiveness of this low level electrical prescription brain therapy.
