Verathon, a company that’s part of Roper Technologies, has released a new portable video laryngoscope, the GlideScope Go. It can be taken to sporting events, disaster zones, or used inside the hospital for routine and “emergent” procedures wherever intubation and/or imaging of the airway is required.
GlideScope is already a well respected name among anesthesiologists and ER clinicians. This new spiffy device has a 3.5″ color screen that can be tilted up and down, and it and the rest of the devices are wipeable, and even submersible. Cleaning is therefore is simplified, resembling that of many other clinical devices.
The rechargeable battery lasts for 100 minutes of continuous usage and can be replenished in about two hours. If necessary, a cable cable can be used to power the device from a standard electric socket. There is also a micro-USB drive that automatically records the procedures for later review, should that be necessary.
Snap-on blades area available that will work with adults and patients as small as neonates as well.
