BIOTRONIK has obtained an FDA approval for its Edora HF-T QP MR conditional quadripolar cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemaker (CRT-P). It’s tiny, by comparison to similar devices, and features the BIOTRONIK’s MR AutoDetect technology that allows a physician to tell the implant that an MRI exam is coming up and for the device to automatically engage its MRI safety mode during a scan.
The implant has a total volume of only 15 cc, making it the smallest MR-conditional CRT-P on the U.S. market. Being a modern pacemaker, it includes wireless monitoring for daily uploads of any unusual events to the patient’s cardiologist.
As far as pacing, it allows for multiple pacing and sensing options to manage the therapy delivered and helps in selecting which settings will achieve optimal results. BIOTRONIK also touts its Closed Loop Stimulation software within the Edora HF-T QP that changes various pacing parameters as the patient goes between different physical activities and also in response to changes in emotional stress.
