A well known and very common chemical reaction has been perfected where virtually any flow rate and amount of oxygen can be produced simply by adding water and catalyst to a bag. Lifeflo’s development team with assistance from NASA scientists, special forces medics, doctors and other clinicians has released it’s first product, Lifeflo OTC Emergency Oxygen Kit, utilizing this patented oxygen generating technology.
The OTC Emergency Oxygen Kit will produce 6 LPM of 99% oxygen for 15-20 minutes. It is designed to be used by non-professionals during an emergency event while awaiting the arrival of professional medical services. The company has coined the phrase “Bridge to Life” as it is well known that giving oxygen during an emergency can only help survival. This is a single use device and is priced similarly to other home safety equipment like carbon monoxide/smoke alarms and multipurpose fire extinguishers. Additional products are in the final stages of development including:
- Lifeflo Rx2.0 – 2 LPM for 60 Minutes – First ever “oxygen pill”
- Lifeflo Rx1.0 – 1 LPM for 120 Minutes – First ever “oxygen pill”
- Lifeflo Newborn – 1 LPM for 120 Minutes – Newborns in Resource Challenged Communities
- Lifeflo Aromox – 2 LPM for 30 Minutes – Lavender, Lemon, Eucalyptus etc. scented 99% oxygen.
The chemical material used for oxygen production is a very high grade urea hydrogen peroxide (UHP). The UHP is tabletized to a specific density, size and weight and then sealed into a specially produced aluminum/poly bag. These tablets remain constant throughout Lifeflo’s product line regardless of flow rate or volume of oxygen. This constant is what provides Lifeflo tremendous design and market specific capabilities.
The key control mechanism is a proprietary dosing cap to house the activating catalyst. The catalyst material is modified to produce the different flow rates needed. This patented method controls the rate of the chemical reaction and thus the rate of release of oxygen from the bag. The system has been tested to exacting standards and complies with GMP guidelines.
The mission of Lifeflo is to save a million lives a year. With over 2 million babies dying each year just due to a lack of oxygen (WHO Report, Feb 2016, Oxygen therapy for children) our mission is clearly in sight. “We know we cannot do this alone” stated Dan Normand, CEO in a recent interview. “to reach our goal we will need large multinational company involvement and participation from NGOs”
