Philips Respironics, a division of Philips, is releasing its DreamStation GO positive airway pressure (PAP) system. Designed to be used just about anywhere the user wants to sleep, it can utilize power from a wall socket or rely on an optional battery for all-night functionality where electricity is not available. This can be particularly useful in situations such as shown in the photo above, in which the patient gets a restful night sleep and so does everyone at the campsite. It is confirms to FAA standards for safe use on-board a commercial aircraft.
It weighs less than 2 pounds (1 Kg) and the power transformer is built right in so that there’s one less thing to pack along. The device is either available with a fixed air pressure delivery or one that adjusts during the night in response to patient breathing. It also features an air filter on the inside to help block out pollen and dust from reaching the user.
The DreamStation Go connects to Philips’ DreamMapper smartphone app that monitors usage of the device and provides important evaluation of every night’s sleep.
