Warp United, a company based in Shenzhen, China, is bringing to market its Warp 3 Medical Recorder. Weighing only a couple pounds (1 Kg), the device can be connected to compatible ultrasound transducers and to a vital signs module that can simultaneously collect 6 channel ECG, pulse rate, SpO2, temperature, and blood pressure measurements.
The recorder is essentially a small Android tablet that interfaces with the vital signs module via Bluetooth wireless and with the ultrasound transducers via a physical port. The whole package, including the transducers and vital signs devices, is small enough to throw into a doctor’s bag and brought with to wherever the patient is.
It’s intended for primary care physicians, especially those that make house calls, as an adjunct to basic physical exams. In particular, doctors with pregnant patients would benefit from being able to keep a close eye on them during the entire pregnancy period.
