Ecomed Solutions out of Mundelein, Illinois has introduced the Sureglide Cesarean scalpel. The device is designed to prevent any injury to both the baby or the clinical staff during incision of the uterus.
A child can be injured during a hysterotomy, typically because the head is located just below the incision line. Though usually these injuries are minor, at times they can have permanent consequences.
The Sureglide is designed to cut up and away from the fetus, thereby avoiding injury to the child.
The blade is hidden so that chances of accidental lacerations are reduced and even when disposed of it helps avoid potential problems.
