Closed incision negative pressure therapy (ciNPT) is becoming a popular way to speed up healing after operations when an incision is prone to exudate. Acelity (San Antonio, TX) is bringing to market the PREVENA PLUS incision management system to help make ciNPT easier and applicable to more cases, allowing the technology to help more patients recover.
The product helps to keep the incision together, reducing strain on the skin, while protecting the area from infections. At the same time it reduces the air pressure on the incision down to -125 mmHg (0.164atm) for up to seven days straight.
The main development, though, is the customizable dressings that can cover up to 90 cm (35 inches) and can be used for linear, non-linear, and intersecting incisions.
