PeriCoach, the at-home Kegel exerciser powered by a smartphone app, has now been cleared by the FDA for over-the-counter sale. Just like other muscles, pelvic floor muscles may require exercise to maintain performance, and when incontinence kicks in there’s no gym to to go to to train those muscles. The PeriCoach is a device that is inserted into the vagina, which wirelessly connects to your smartphone and provides real-time feedback on every muscle contraction.
The app creates an exercise regimen that you try to follow along, which shows up as a chart on a graph and the strength of your contractions are superimposed on top of it as you exercise. It also saves your activity to review your progress over time and to pass on to your doctor for a closer inspection.
