Telemedicine is already widely used in various healthcare applications, mostly for keeping tabs on patients after discharge from a hospital and to conduct basic consultations with one’s physician. Yet there’s a lot of potential for telemedicine to help administer medical care in disaster situations.
We spoke with Dr. Thomas Hedberg, head of International Medical Crisis Response Alliance (IMCRA), a United Nations-affiliated NGO, about the efforts his organization is undertaking to utilize telemedicine in mass casualty situations.
