St. Jude Medical is releasing in Europe its new aortic Trifecta surgical valve with Glide Technology for patients with aortic regurgitation or some forms of heart failure. The Trifecta GT is essentially a version of the original Trifecta that features a delivery system to help deploy the valve in challenging cases. It retains its original hemodynamic components and, once positioned using a new parachuting mechanics, works as the original Trifecta.
From St. Jude:
Engineered to reduce wear and deterioration over time, the Trifecta GT valve stent is covered with tissue to allow improved tissue-to-tissue contact when the leaflets open and close. Additionally, the valve is treated with St. Jude Medical’sLinx™ AC Treatment, an anticalcification treatment designed to reduce tissue mineralization (hardening). The valve’s fatigue-resistant titanium stent provides a supportive frame within a patient’s heart for added durability.
