Consumer electroencephalography (EEG) has been entering the non-clinical space for a few years now, with few actual useful applications to show for itself. A nifty new product hopes to read your brainwaves and generate soundscapes that help you relax and calm down. The Melomind device is a pair of Bluetooth wireless headphones that come with removable EEG electrodes towards the back. The product works with a matching app which evaluates the brain signals gathered and generates different kinds of noise and music to match your state.
We’re a bit skeptical, but there are real neuroscientists behind the project so perhaps it will work as advertised. Right now the team behind the Melomind, the technology of which they believe already works, is raising money on Kickstarter to help manufacture the product.
Here’s video presenting the Melomind.
