BIOTRONIK‘s BioMonitor 2 wireless subcutaneous ECG recorder now has FDA approval to be introduced in the U.S. The device can implanted within minutes and is meant for close monitoring of patients with atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia, and syncope while they’re outside the clinic. Additionally, it can be used to track patients post cardiac ablation to verify that the procedure were successful.
The device automatically records any aberrant rhythms, sending the results to the patient’s cardiologist via the BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring platform. It can store up to 60 minutes of ECG data and prioritizes which data to keep if the available memory is running out. It will send up to six recordings a day once within range of the Home Monitoring receiver
