Smith & Nephew is unveiling its new REDAPT Revision Acetabular Fully Porous Cup with CONCELOC technology intended for revisions in which the bone makes implantation difficult. The device is the firm’s first 3D printed titanium hip implant, featuring a fully porous structure that’s similar to cancellous bone. Additionally, REDAPT variable-angle locking screws help prevent any wiggling of the implant after the procedure.
Once the device is implanted, the porous geometry of its structure allows bone tissue to grow into its nooks and crannies. This helps secure the implant more rigidly, assisting the screws at holding onto the original bone.
