The FDA gave FUJIFILM SonoSite clearance to bring to market its compact iViz ultrasound system that can fit inside a scrubs pocket and carried around the clinic throughout the day.
The device is intended for abdominal, cardiac, lung, and OB exams, having a 5.1 MHz transducer that can penetrate down to about 32 cm.
The display is a 7″ high brightness screen and the computer has Wifi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, plus an HDMI port for viewing on larger screens, USB, and connectivity to EMR and other online systems.
The device received European regulatory approval back in September of this year.
