Medtronic landed FDA approval for the firm’s MyCareLink Smart Monitor, a device using which patients can share their pacemaker implant data (including cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemakers (CRT-P)) with their cardiologists via iOS and Android phones and tablets. The MyCareLink Smart Monitor connects to the mobile device via Bluetooth, which in turn passes the information to Medtronic’s CareLink portal.
The technology allows cardiologists to detect and address unusual patient readings and monitor the performance of the implants, as well as focus office time on working with patients rather than downloading stored data on the implant.
