The FDA granted Toshiba clearance to bring to U.S. market the firm’s Scenaria SE 64 and 128 slice CT scanners. The machines are designed for high patient throughput, allowing busy clinics to avoid the CT bottleneck while offering high quality visualization at a relatively low radiation dose. Having a 30″ (75 cm) bore and a table that will support up to 550 lbs (250 kg), the scanners will work with almost all patients.
The table can shift the patient laterally to align the target area with the scanner’s center, features a higher sampling rate than the former model, and Hitachi’s Intelli IP and Intelli IP Advanced adaptive iterative reconstruction processes.
Clinical facilities that have the previous generation Scenaria scanners installed can get a free upgrade to the matching Scenaria SE model, as long as the warranty or full service agreement is still in effect.
