BIOTRONIK is now launching its new BioMonitor 2 implantable continuous cardiac monitor, having received European CE Mark approval back in September of this year. The device monitors patients who experience atrial fibrillation and syncopal episodes, recording unusual events and sharing them with patient’s cardiologist.
It takes about two minutes to implant the BioMonitor 2 ECG and, once activated, it makes recordings up to one minute long of any unusual electrocardiac activity. These are automatically copied to the cardiologist’s online portal via BIOTRONIK’s Home Monitoring system, which wirelessly grabs them from the implant.
Two versions of the device are available. One for spotting AFib and the other for diagnosing the underlying cause of syncope.
The battery lasts for up to four years and the BioMonitor 2 is compatible for full body MRI scans of up to 3 Tesla.
