Sony is releasing two new 4K medical monitors and has plans to unveil a line of other products that will help hospitals take advantage of ultra high-definition video. The new monitors include the 31-inch LMD-X310MD and 55-inch LMD-X550MD models and accept a variety of video sources. Boring old HD signals are automatically up-scaled to 4K or up to four separate HD sources can be displayed in full resolution on a single screen. The monitors are spill resistant and are made to be easy to clean.
Since 4K requires improved infrastructure and new devices to work with, Sony promises to soon release a 4k-video-over-IP converter to use the hospital’s network to route video signals, as well as a medical grade 4K recorder to document and playback videos.
