Philips Respironics is releasing a new positive airway pressure (PAP) system called Dream Family for people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It comes with the new DreamWear mask that integrates air channels within its frame, allowing the patient to turn and sleep in any direction and keeping the visual field of view clear of the hose. The company also promises the nasal pads to keep the skin from irritating as much as is often common in other PAP systems.
The DreamStation air pump has Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth connectivity to review usage of the therapy and to share those findings with one’s doctor. It also looks a lot more like a consumer gadget rather than CPAP pumps of old.
The system also comes with the DreamMapper app that uses the data to help adjust therapy, motivate the patient, and learn to better use the system.
