Palm Pistol .38 SPL defensive gun, designed for people with osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, and other degenerative joint and muscular conditions, is now coming to the market. We’ve been following the device for many years now, since the initial brouhaha when there was a rumor that the FDA has formally designated the gun as a medical device, and so eligible for Medicare coverage of associated costs for qualified patients. Since then, the FDA has supposedly rescinded its registration of the device. In any case, this defensive single shot weapon,
… is an ergonomically innovative single shot self-defense firearm chambered in .38 special that may be held in either hand without regard to orientation of the stock. It is an adaptive aid intended for seniors, disabled or others with grip limitations due to hand strength, manual dexterity or phalangeal amputions. The zero bore axis eliminates muzzle rise during firing and directs recoil forces directly into the palm. It can be fired using the thumb or combinations of other fingers.
We plan an initial production run of 500 units. Sales are restricted to US citizens and resident aliens as permitted by law. All transfers must be made through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL). Not for sale in CA, DC, MA or MD.
The above quote is from the company. Constitution Arms of Maplewood, New Jersey also tells Medgadget that,
