Occlutech, a firm out of Helsingborg, Sweden, is releasing in Europe the new muscular Ventricle Septal Defect Closure Device (mVSD). Used in a minimally invasive fashion, the mVSD occludes muscular ventricle septal defects.
Built out of nitinol shape memory alloy, the device is delivered into the heart via a catheter and then expanded to close the defect. It’s available in different sizes and configurations to best fit the native anatomy of each individual patient.
