Gene Fridman, Ph.D., a Johns Hopkins assistant professor of biomedical engineering and of otolaryngology–head and neck surgery, headed a team that developed the MouthLab medical device that is able to easily capture a number of vital signs in a short amount of time. It combines a group of different sensors into one system that the patient can quickly and intuitively use on one’s own, providing rapid medical assessments without a clinical specialist having to attach a bunch of monitors.
