HealthWatch Technologies, a firm out of Tel Aviv, Israel, just won CE mark approval for its MasterCaution Device (MCD), an ECG that can work as a Holter monitor and event recorder that can send readings wirelessly over Bluetooth. The MCD works with the firm’s hWear 12-lead ECG shirt that has electrodes and embedded wires throughout that can sense the heart signal while the patient is ambulatory. The device can hold up to 72 hours of continuous readings.
The MCD device also records the posture, motion, respiration, and body temperature to add more valuable data on top of what’s gathered from the ECG. All these readings can be easily dumped online on a regular basis or after a suspect incident for a clinical review by a cardiologist. The device will warn the user if there’s a suspect arrhythmia or ischemia, at which point the patient can decide to have a physician take a look at the data.
