Boston Scientific received FDA approval to introduce its Innova vascular stent in the United States for treating narrowing or occlusions within the superficial femoral or proximal popliteal arteries. The device is made to be both strong and flexible, resisting fracturing while moving through tortuous anatomy and complying with the vessel walls morphology once in position.
The nitinol self-expanding bare stent is the foundation of the Eluvia drug-eluting stent designed specifically for the superficial femoral artery. The Innova device comes in lengths from 20 to 200 mm and diameters from 5 to 8 mm.
