At the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery 12th Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Codman Neuro, a part of DePuy Synthes, itself part of J&J, has released a line of coils for treating aneurysms in the brain.
The new coils feature a new detachment system for more consistent results and radiopaque markers on the delivery wire help visualize placement and delivery of the device. The coils, which come in three sizes to match the aneurysm being treated, have tiny curves along the length of the wire to motivate it to flex and bunch up into a dense and complicated shape.
