BIOTRONIK is reporting initial implantations of its Itrevia HF-T QP cardiac resynchronization defibrillator (CRT-D). The device features the firm’s Closed Loop Stimulation physiologic sensor that takes into account the patient’s physical activity to adjust the heart rate. The technology works even when the respiratory rate or body movement are not exhibiting any changes. This is accomplished by relying on impedance sensing that compensates for the patient’s mental state, essentially similar to how the nervous system adjusts the heart rate in healthy patients.
The Itrevia HF-T QP works with IS4 compatible left ventricular leads and sports a quadripolar header to provide more pacing options. To more appropriately tune the therapy, the device also includes features such as morphology discrimination, atrial capture control, improved ATP optimization, and additional LV pacing vectors.
