Prescription drug abusers take note: students at Johns Hopkins University built a device that will limit the number of pills you can draw from it at any one time. Moreover, it will only dispense the medication to the patient that was prescribed the meds. The prototype device is mostly made of metal and has a heavy duty lock on the bottom that only the prescribing pharmacist can open. On top there’s a fingerprint scanner to prevent anyone but the patient from getting a hold of the contents. Once the finger is scanned, the device checks whether it’s the appropriate time to release the medication, and once confirmed the mechanism inside rotates and pops out a pill.
