Tracking seizures is an important part in helping tailor therapies for epileptic patients. In the past this has been done manually by patients keeping journals of their seizures. This is terribly inaccurate, as patients often can’t estimate their own epileptic episodes, and compliance is low. The Neutun is a new app that was designed to work with smartwatches to accurately track and record seizures.
Currently, the app only works with the popular Pebble smartwatch, but plans are in the works to be compatible with other devices. The Neutun app uses the motion sensors inside smartwatches to spot seizures, immediately beginning to record the intensity and lengths of the events. It can immediately notify loved ones that a seizure is occurring by sending a text message to people on a pre-set list.
