Esaote received FDA clearance for the MyLab Gamma portable ultrasound system, opening the door to bringing the system to the U.S. market. About the size of a beefy laptop, the device can be used in just about any clinical environment for a wide variety of applications.
The device can run on battery power if necessary and features fast restart when coming out of standby mode, allowing clinicians to quickly get on with scanning patients. The screen tilts and rotates to allow sonographers easy viewing of images during scans and the nearly silent operation helps to keep the clinical environment calm and peaceful.
The device comes with two probe connectors on the main unit and four additional ones on the matching cart.
The MyLab Desk3 software running within the device can also be installed on any PC to extend clinical capabilities, though Esaote says that the application is not intended for use in establishing an official diagnosis.
