Tissue Regenix (York, UK) is bringing to the U.S. its DermaPure decellularized human dermis product. DermaPure is made from donor skin from which all cells and DNA have been washed out using the company’s dCELL process. What remains is a natural scaffold into which a patient’s cells can grow into when the product is placed onto a wound. DermaPure doesn’t require refrigeration when storing and doesn’t require to be rehydrated prior to use, so can be used in a variety of clinics.
We couldn’t find what the source of the donor skin is, but according to the product info page, you’ll be happy to know that it is “… NOT derived from fetal foreskin fibroblasts, bovine collagen, urinary bladders or placentas.”
More info from the product page:
60% of patients, with a history of minimal response to other appropriate modalities, whose wounds were covered with a single application of DermaPure™ exhibited complete healing. This key endpoint data is from the published results of an initial U.K. clinical study of DermaPure™.2 In addition, patients in the study (who had exhibited chronic wounds with a mean surface area of 13 cm² for an average of 4½ years) saw an average of 87% reduction in the size of all wounds.
