Brainlab and Mobius Imaging announced today CE Mark approval of the Airo Mobile Intraoperative CT. The Airo is a mobile CT scanner for real-time imaging in the OR to enhance surgical decision-making and support minimally invasive surgery.
The system features an integrated OR table column and a 32-slice helical scan detector array. It has a large gantry opening which makes it convenient for cranial, spinal, and trauma procedures. The scan volume has a maximum width of 50cm and can go up to 100cm in the z-axis, allowing for imaging of the entire spine in a single scan. The Airo connects seamlessly and automatically with Curve Information Guided Surgery by Brainlab for immediate surgical navigation on newly acquired images in the OR. The first European shipments of Airo are expected in April 2014. The system already received FDA approval last October.
