The Paralympic Games are an excellent venue for disabled people to compete in a variety of sports, but the rules limit the gadgetry that can be used to assist the athletes. A new event, aimed precisely at putting assistive technologies head-to-head in competitive races, will debut in October 2016 in Zurich, Switzerland. The Cybathlon will include six areas of competition: Brain Computer Interface Race, Functional Electrical Stimulation Bike Race, Powered Leg Prosthetics Race, Powered Exoskeleton Race, Powered Wheelchair Race, and Powered Arm Prosthetics Race.
