Door handles in clinical environments are great portals for pathogens to jump from one person to another. There have been attempts to add new features to door handles to reduce their ability to spread disease, but a new product from Altitute Medical (Oxford, UK) takes a different approach by placing a smart sanitizer dispenser within the handle itself.
The idea is that while sanitizers are readily available in clinical environments, they typically require you to step out of your way to use them. A busy clinician might often forget or ignore the sanitizing station, but once it’s embedded right into the door handle you don’t even skip a beat. Besides offering a convenient sanitizing option, the handles keep track of when they’re used and how much sanitizer is left inside. Here’s a promo video for the PullClean handles:
