Sorin Group has been awarded CE Mark approval for the Intesia family of cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization devices. The family consists of the INTENSIA VR, a single chamber device, and the INTENSIA DR and INTENSIA SonR CRT-D, both of which are dual chamber. All three feature a DF-4 high voltage plugs to reduce the number of connections between the device and defibrillation leads down to one. They also feature improved CRT algorithms for optimal physiological pacing. These implants are all RF-enabled to allow for wireless check-ups with Sorin’s SMARTVIEW remote monitoring system.
The INTENSIA SonR CRT-D further optimizes pacing with the SonRtip lead to measure how well the left ventricle is able to contract, and automatically adapts to optimize resynchronization. The CLEAR clinical trial results of this device showed a 23% improvement in CRT response.
The INTENSIA DR on the other hand features the proprietary SafeR pacing mode to control ventricular pacing, and the PARAD+arrhythmia algorithm to minimize inappropriate shocking.
