Siemens has received FDA clearance for its new 3 Tesla MRI system, the MAGNETOM Prisma. This high-performance scanner is particularly aimed at demanding applications and clinical research. The key part of the scanner are the powerful XR Gradients, which have a strength of 80 milliTesla per meter (mT/m) combined with a 200T-per-meter-per-second (T/m/s) slew rate. Furthermore, it employs advanced homogeneity and shimming functions for optimal image quality.

TimTX TrueForm: Is Siemens’ solution for overcoming B1 inhomogeneities at 3 Tesla. It includes innovative techniques in the RF excitation hardware as well as new application and processing features enabling uniform RF distribution in all body regions.

TimTX TrueShape: Is Siemens’ parallel transmit architecture. It features selective excitation to highlight regions, organs or features of an organ leading to increased image quality and faster scanning. Builds the foundation for unique parallel transmit applications, like syngo ZOOMit, the first zoom function in MRI.
The MAGNETOM Prisma is suitable for all kinds of examinations, including cardiac and body imaging, and spectroscopy. For the head/neck an additional optional 64 element coil is being developed by Siemens.
While available as an all new system, it is also possible to perform an upgrade of an existing MAGNETOM Trio scanner to the MAGNETOM Prisma.
