RAUMEDIC (Helmbrechts, Germany) received FDA 510(k) clearance for the NEUROVENT-PTO all-in-one catheter system that can measure intracranial pressure (ICP) , intracranial temperature (ICT) and oxygen partial pressure (pti02). The NEUROVENT-PTO uses a process called “oxygen quenching” for measurement of oxygen partial pressure that allows for early diagnosis of cerebral damage by determining the amount of available oxygen in the brain tissue. If the oxygen parameters change, they are quickly displayed on the neuromonitor without any additional oxygen consumption. This results in optimal therapy decisions and treatment for the patient.
Semiconductor pressure sensors in the NEUROVENT-PTO catheter allow for measuring of intracranial pressure. ICT measurement using temperature sensors allows for early detection of inflammatory processes and potentially dangerous temperature increases in the brain. The NEUROVENT-PTO catheter, which has a shelf life of 2 years, comes pre-calibrated and hence allows for easy plug and play use. The device is implanted using a low-profile PEEK BOLT or a Tunneling Sleeve.
RAUMEDIC’s NEUROVENT family of products also include ICP and ICT measuring microchip ventricular catheters and parenchyma catheters.
