Toshiba has unveiled its latest system in its Vantage line of MRI machines. The Vantage Elan is a 1.5T scanner, providing homogeneity that enables superior image quality even when imaging off center or when fat free images are required in a large field of view. The new system also incorporates noise reduction technology called Pianissimo Σ that minimizes patient discomfort associated with magnet noise.
Without affecting image quality, the Vantage Elan system allows for easier set up and improved patient experience through the use of a new light coil design with Octave SPEEDER technology. The new system would also require the patient to enter the MRI machine feet first, thereby reducing patient anxiety associated with entering the magnet head first. Improved air flow in the magnet bore along with a short length magnet further reduces patient anxiety. The company claims that the Vantage Elan in many cases allows for excellent imaging without the need for the physician to inject the patient with contrast media, that can obscure fine regions of interest.
