Terumo Interventional Systems has released the AZUR CX Peripheral Coil System to the U.S. market. Being unveiled this week at the Vascular InterVentional Advances Conference (VIVA) in Las Vegas, the device is designed specifically for peripheral embolizations.
The coil features a hydrogel core for improved flexibility, and the same material provides a scaffold on which scar tissue can form to help block a vessel without having to develop a clot. Additionally, the device has a nifty coiling pattern that guarantees an occluded center and an otherwise well blocked vessel.
